Chapter 9

If you were Rosemary's mother, how would you of handled the situation on pages 138-139? What would you say to Grace's father to help him adopt civility?

  1. I would help out as much as I could to help make Grace's mother feel better. Grace's father needs to adopt be agreeable, think the best, accept and give praise, and others.

  2. I agree Madison. I really like the way the women in this book are modeling civility for their children and for Mr. Hamilton. Like when Mrs. Hamilton told her husband that Rosemary's mother would be treated with respect in their home. I think this is the challenge for all of us to model civility for the people looking up to us and for the people struggling with civility.
